I never really had a true appreciation for fitness until after the birth of my twins. Initially it was vanity that drove me to the gym, determination to see those abs back together, but it quickly became something else. Having a baby is life changing (no shiz right?) and can be lonely. The mental benefits of exercising are so rewarding, it is has become essential in my daily routine.

During all my pregnancies I attended pregnancy pilates and engaged in light exercise. I credit this for my speedy transition to wash board abs post birth (circumstances my be dramatised). Jokes aside, I feel quite strongly about the benefits of pregnancy and post pregnancy fitness – when done right!

Like everything these days there is a wealth of information surrounding this topic, usually provoking conflicting views and opinions. It is this confusion that fuels pregnancy fitness expert Brooke Jacobs from Bump Out Fitness. With an actual degree in exercise and sports science from ECU, Brooke is the real deal, a guru of sorts and a stand out in the Perth pregnancy fitness niche. In such a delicate and important time of your life, who wouldn’t want this level of expertise in your corner?

I was super pumped to sit down with Brooke to find out her secrets.

Sooo Bump Out Fitness, what made you do that?

B: For as long as I can remember pregnancy and post pregnancy training has interested me because of it’s complexity, whilst still maintaining and aiming to specific goals. However, most trainers go by the rule of thumb that you only need to change one or two things when dealing with a pregnancy client. I saw a need for a much more personal, educated, and sophisticated service for women in Perth who want to maintain their lifestyle as best as possible and improve their recovery post birth.

What do you love doing in your business the most?

B: I love how every client has their own story, wins and challenges. Also I get to share in one of the most special times of their lives and support them through that. The baby cuddles aren’t too bad either.

Ok now whats the one thing you hate doing the most?

B: I hate working alone. While I interact with my clients and that’s great, professionally not having someone to interact with and bounce ideas off (from back end business stuff to further education), is a little lonely and isolating.

We feel ya on that one Brooke!

What makes you special? You know, stand out from the crowd? Different from everyone else doing what you’re doing?

B: I believe my love for what I do and attention to details, particularly on how important exercising correctly is for every woman – is what sets me apart. My clients get the most they possibly can from me and I enjoy educating them along the way so they learn the tools they need to continue in the future. My thoroughness and care enables me to go exceed above average service and customise each clients individual need.

Thanks so much Brooke for giving us your time. We truly believe you are unique in your niche and an asset to the preggo ladies of Perth. If you have any concerns surrounding our pregnancy and fitness, be sure to contact Brooke.
