No impostors here, organic skin care that’s legit organic

Its not every day you come across a business that oozes heart and soul right from the second you stumble across their website. I think it’s safe to say that portraying your values and personality on a digital platform is one of the biggest challenges small businesses face in modern times.

Not this one……

I felt warm and fuzzy inside the second I laid eyes on the website that is – Verrisima Natural Skin Care. When I met it’s founder Natallie in real life I could see why. Aside from her laid back, light hearted country girl disposition (which I immediately connected with as a farm gal myself) Natallie eats, sleeps, breathes and lives her values. Honest, genuine and authentic are the 3 words i’d use to sum her up.

Natallies mission in life is to set the record straight on organic skin care – on what it is and what it isn’t. She’s the real deal when it comes to creating skin care that ACTUALLY is organic.

When you head to Natallie’s website you will see glimpses of her story like this;

“My heart is with the land, which is one of the reasons we purchased Booka Farm when our family was young. So we can teach the next generation through our journey of discovering how to best care for the land on which we live.”

Because we love Natalie’s infectious energy and her love for all things nature and animals, she was an easy choice for our member feature. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen so much personality shine through in response to my questions………..

Why own your own business –

Omg! No idea. (haha not really). 14 years ago when I birthed my first child, something inside of me “switched on”. I always had a keen interest in herbs for healing & what plants could be used for (so many books in my cupboard). Previously I studied Conservation and Land Management at TAFE which included Aboriginal Studies – fascinated by how they used the native flora to heal.

So when my son was born I  became super conscious of what I was eating and putting on his skin. It absolutely floored me the toxic crap they used to create baby products and willingly sold to Mums who trusted them. I was so shocked I went on a (what turned out to be mammoth) hunt for a natural nappy rash cream, bath products, body lotion etc. I couldn’t find anything that was good enough.

It took forever but in the end I remembered a friend who had done a course on making her own products. She gave me the name of the lady and I attended her next course. My son was going on 5months and the course was held at Verissma in the Perth Hills. It was Alternative Healing & Aromatherapy. It was like finding gold to me. I absolutely loved it. I could buy the products that I wanted right there. How friggen awesome!

I became a member and continued to use all the products for me and my family. A few years later I started working there, just a few hours helping out while my son was at Kindy. I soon found out the owner was selling the business. I was really disappointed because I thought someone would snavel it up for the sake of owning a business and not carry on what it was all about – healing and helping.  My partner wisely (and stupidly) suggested I buy it. No biz experience whatsoever, but why not hey? We did.

What do you love doing in your business –

I love being able to help people learn about living naturally, getting back to basics and enjoying life. Verissima is a platform for me to be able to do this.

Hate doing –

One thing I hate doing the most is all the damn office work. I am not an indoors person. I am forever outside with the chooks, the sheep the bush. That’s me. I’m not good at commitment. Never liked sports because I had to be there at a certain time for training, nup, not me. So it’s a challenge for me to schedule my days out let alone sit my butt down and actually work in the office.

What makes you special?

I am not into beauty. I’m here to educate you on being yourself and actually liking you as you are.

I help families feel better by teaching them the benefits of natural products & whole foods but also HOW to easily make them a part of their everyday life. It’s time we ditched all the chemical crap, got back to basics & enjoyed life.

I want people to feel good about themselves, to enjoy life, to get back to basics. To be able to pick up a selfcare product with full confidence it will make them feel wonderful, help them without them having to worry about hidden chemicals in there.

I want to show people and the beauty industry that we can have gorgeous natural products to use on our skin that does not have a detrimental impact on the environment.

In 25 words or less sell yourself to me –

Creator of genuinely natural skincare for women who want to feel good & smell amazing without worrying about toxic ingredients leaching into their body.

Thank you to Natallie for taking the time to share a piece of your journey with us. There is no doubt that when it comes to truly organic skin care, this chick is the ‘real deal’ and we implore all our readers to take a closer look at Verissima via their website, Facebook or Instagram.
